Access the AT

If you’re lucky enough to cruise through Damascus—dubbed the "friendliest town on the AT"—during Trail Days (usually mid-May), check out this popular festival. Highlights include a talent show, trout rodeo, hiker parade, and free gear repairs.

TO TRAILHEAD: Start: From W. Laurel Ave. and S. Shady Ave. in Damascus, VA, head west on W. Laurel Ave. for 150 feet to trail crossing.

End: From Big Hill, VA, head west on Jeb Stuart Hwy./US 58 for 1.1 miles to trail crossing.

Trail Days

Vendors will be in the Town Park as in past years.


10-10:45am: "Windtalker" will perform his unique and beautiful style of Native American flute music, in front of the Mt. Rogers Hostel. 110 Laurel Avenue Damascus, VA 24236

10am-2pm: The library will host the Whittling Club. Come watch, listen and learn from local artists. 126 East Laurel Avenue

3:00pm: Gear Auction in the Town Park.

5:30-7:30: FREE concert in the park by The Sons of Bluegrass!

8-11pm: Concert in the Town Park with Wolf Creek!


1-4pm: FREE concert in the park by RO-SHAM-BO!
